Candle Care
Candle Care & Safety Tips:
The First Burn: The very first burn is crucial. Let it burn long enough (usually 1 hour per 1 inch of diameter) to create a full liquid pool edge-to-edge to prevent "tunneling" (creating a narrow hole down the middle).
Wick Maintenance: Before lighting, trim the wick to 1/4 inch. Long or crooked wicks cause uneven burning, dripping, and soot.
Prevent "Mushrooming": If a wick develops a carbon cap (mushroom shape), trim it to prevent a dangerous, excessively large flame.
Burn Time Limits: Do not burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time.
Extinguishing: Avoid blowing out candles, as this creates smoke. Instead, use a snuffer or dip the wick into the liquid wax to prevent hot wax splatters.
Placement: Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Keep 12 inches (1 foot) away from anything that can burn (curtains, books, decorations).
Safety Zone: Keep children and pets away from lit candles. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
